D Major 8 is a pleasant and happy scale that offers some warmth in a sea of scales rooted in minor keys. Rooted in D, D Major 8 offers a nice range to play in -- not too low and not too high -- and would be a great starting instrument for somebody looking for something warmer than some of the other scales.
